general, I was surprised at how "not fancy" the housing stock in the UP was. I thought it would be super nice vacation homes and stuff. But...it's not. It's kind of ghetto.
Again, the UP is great and 100% worth a visit. I’m partial to the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Will second or third or whatever pictured rocks. Camping along 12 mile beach just east of where the bluffs start is one of my favorite camping sites in the country.
Also love porcupine mountains state park.
Not the UP but functionally the same, apostle islands and bayfield in Wisconsin is truly the best in the summer. Kayaking the sea caves is a fantastic day or over night experience
