That generation thought Walter Cronkite was an honest grandfatherly figure. In reality, he was extremely biased, and the Tet Offensive caused him to switch from being a propaganda mouthpiece for the government to anti-war.
He never did occupy the middle ground in regards to the Vietnam War, or most of the news he covered.
