1. Talks about being a vocal leader and how he relishes the role.

2. Says Lee, JJ, and CG are all great QB's and he will do whatever it takes to help the team win. He is going to be a student of the game and learn from them. He says he's just another freshman and he will do anything he can.

3. Talks about Myles and his recent trip to BR. Says he has been telling people they will have the #1 class in the country. Says Chad Jones is probably going to be a 1st round pick and that the weekend was awesome.

4. Talks about uncommitted players and his relationship with them and how he communicates with them. No politics and he is another recruit who can relate to what they are going through. Tries to help them out and offer his advice whenever he can.

5. Talks about his progression with Jeff Blake and how his training has helped him. Mentions that he's a quick study and picks up the position fast. He likes a challenge and is looking forward to it. He talks about throwing to Lafell, TT, and how it could be great with RR and how it will be amazing.

6. Talks about waking up at 5 and training and doing what it takes to get to where he's trying to go. He's a competitor and not a moan and groan kind of guy. Mentions the intangibles that Kobe, Lebron, and the greats have. He says he wants to posses those qualities of never stopping and never giving up.

7. Mentions how the LSU team is HUNGRY. Mentions some players and how good they are. Talks about next year being sick and how the fans will enjoy it. Love the fact that the team is SO hungry.

8. Mid Term graduate. Says he is stoked about graduating early. Says he will still have his H town home in his heart but when he gets to LSU he is all LSU. No regrets and is ready.

9. He is a different type of QB that is coming into the SEC and his condition is.... 6'1 1/2 197. With pads 6'2 6'3 205 range. He carried 300 times this year and thinks his body can handle it. Knows that the SEC is rough but has been training for that. He says he "isn't no small dude".

10. Talks about the system is made to get people to the next level. Our offense offers the best of both worlds and how he is lucky to follow in the footsteps that he will be in.

11. Talks about closing with Debose and RR would be amazing. He says he always talks to Sam Montgomery who LOVES LSU. Says these three guys he really took a liking to. Mentions some others like Myles and how they have a chance to finish REALLY strong.

Closes with Go get em' Tigers.

Chad Jones better have a tremendous offseason and stay out of baseball if he wants to go in first round.

I like what he said about RR and how that tandem could be sick.

Shepard singlehandedly lifted my Tiger Spirit today. Sounds like he has a pretty good grasp on everything. Even when he is beginning to sound borderline narscisistic, he pulls back just a bit to come off just confident. HE also knows a lot more about all aspects of this process than almost any recruit i've ever heard.

All I can say is..... We are very lucky to be getting Russell Shepard. Kids like him do not come around very often.

If they don't really like him as much we might think they do, it could be a problem. I hope they like him.

hes a big fan of Griffin from what I can tell. He also played at Copperas Cove, the team that ended Sheps season in the playoffs.

No. He's just reminding them what could be. He's putting a pretty solid argument out there. Debose, Randle, Him, and I would throw Callhoun and his speed in there. This team would be offensively lights out.

I've said this from the time he started doing interviews that he reminded my of Chris Leak. Leak worked the phones just like he is doing now and Leak helped put a great class together. Shepard seems to know how to just give soft pushes towards guys and not come off as pushy. I think he helps us pull out some sleepers.

Anyone nervous about him playing in an all-star game?? I would hate to see him get hurt in the game or going to or from the game just to play in it when it really is meaningless. Since he's already committed and he's going to be the best thing since sliced bread, I wish he wouldn't do it. Just my opinion.

his play may very well infulence some of the recruits. shite half of the players are lsu commits!!! It will be awsome for them to play/practice together and get some chemistry!!!

Yeah, I noticed that. I also found this post on the 5Atexasfootball.com message board from a Copperas Cove fan after that game:

Re: Wylie versus Copperas Cove

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of our defensive players told me after the Cy Ridge game that Shepard was truly in a class by himself. They both stated that he is better than Robert Griffin was at that stage of their careers.
Wow - Griffin is just a truly amazing athlete that excelled not just in football but also track and basketball. In basketball he was all-district his sophomore and junior years (didn't play his senior year because he graduated last Dec). In track he set two state records in the 110M and 300M hurdles in high school, set the national record in the 400M hurdles in the junior olympics when he was 17 years old, won the Big12 400M hurdles, won the NCAA Midwestern 400M hurdles (record breaking time) and placed 6th in the Olympic Trials as an 18 year old.
And these kids state Shepard is better than Griffin!!!!!
I invite any team to try and contain Russell Sheppard.

And RS's Sr numbers are somewhat similar

Griffen
Rushing: 176 carries, 1,285 yards, 7.3 ypc, 24 TDs
Passing: 105 of 185 for 1,356, 56.8%, 16 TDs, 7 Int
