Got lazy after the final 4, openly flirted with NC State, wasn’t the nicest guy in those days (some players hated him, often took shots at fans for supporting football and baseball more), basically lost that graft and desire to get the program successful and it rubbed off on the team. The tough defense and good rebounding dwindled and he was never an offensive mastermind. He had some bad luck with Tasmin Mitchell and Chris Johnson missing time in 07/08 and his prized recruit Anthony Randolph had a degree of Ben Simmons-itus in his attitude. But starting 06/07 top 5 after a final 4 and not even making the tournament was the beginning of the end. He was also allergic to consistently recruiting point guards outside of Tack Minor who was a bust.
That said the 99/00 and 05/06 seasons were beyond fun. Im glad he’s back as the radio guy and in a good place at LSU. Im sure he wishes it had gone differently after the final four.

I shook John Brady’s hand on the court after the LSU/Mississippi State game in Starkville in 2019 where Naz bounced in that 3 in OT. I told him I loved hearing him on the radio and he seemed really happy to hear that. I walked right past Chris Blair and big leagued him to talk to Coach. He seems like he’s enjoying life now. He wasn’t personable like that back in the day.
