The Grateful Dead. They're not terrible - I like a few of their songs - but they're just so, so, milquetoast for a band that is supposed to be the ultimate psychedelic rock experience.
The Clash. They're not terrible - "Train in Vain" is an ok song - but they're just so, so milquetoast for a band that is supposed to be one of the most important punk groups of all time. Are they even punk? Maybe I need to listen to some of their early stuff but their hits are about as "punk" as Tom Jones.
Pearl Jam. I like a song or two here and there, but mostly I do not care for their output.

Clown take bro. Who cares how “punk” they sounded. They are one of the most influential bands of all time. They expanded the vocabulary of alternative music tenfold. No one was seamlessly switching genres like they were on London Calling. It’s a flawless album. Their contribution in a nutshell was showing that “punk” was a sensibility, not some lame aesthetic.
To your original point tho, their debut was traditional fast paced punk.
