It was bad pre-Covid. It’s post-apocalyptic now.

A Missouri State Teacher’s Association survey found that 70% of teachers have considered leaving the profession in the last year.

The same percentage of teachers cited student behavior as their greatest cause of stress.

Here’s a story from January that occurred at a high school less than 10 miles from the Hazelwood high school.

quote:

WELLSTON, Mo. — A shocking school fight between a student and teacher was caught on camera. "She really couldn’t talk. She don’t understand why. She was crying,” Greg Stanton said of his significant other.

The 65-year-old teacher's loved ones said something needs to be done. Video shows a student dragging the science teacher who is already on the ground. It appears the teacher tries to restrain the student as the student kicks and throws blows. It happened outside of a Normandy High School classroom on Wednesday. The veteran teacher was taken to the hospital shortly afterward.

I think teachers should file a class action lawsuit against their districts for an unsafe work environment.
