As noted in my annoying Gatortail thread I am no boat expert but my best friend is the definition of river rat and swamp monster. He has a Tohatsu (I think 40 or 50)on an open xpress with a middle bench compartment a 16/52 (IIRC) hull and that boat is fast and we have pulled some pretty big cypress out of the river with it with no problem.
He has had it for a few years and has some older Mercurys and other engines he has used before and he swears by the Tohatsu, fwiw. He is the type that would be right at home with y'all knowledgable boat folks on here so I just thought I would throw that out there if you were on the fence. To each their own but it is a great motor, that one at least.
