Sounds like a tactic from the days of old.
Back in 1972, my old man bought a Ford Maverick from the Ford dealer in Covington. It had a custom paint job, so it took a bit for the car to come in. When it did, the guy who sold it called and said it had arrived. When my old man went to pick it up, there was another dealer trying to sell it to another customer. My old man walked over, pulled the guy out, and said "Get the frick out of my car!" Poor guy probably didn't know what they hell was going on, and the weasly dealer ran inside and hid.
