I know this isn't a book club, but I have a desire to reread all of her books. She was an acquaintance of my mother's. When I got chosen to attend the Young Authors Conference in '89, she made a special effort to talk to me for 15 or so minutes. I also got to meet Anne McCaffrey that day.
I just miss talking about books --concurrently -- with people.
ETA:
This is the order.
The Outsiders (1967)
That Was Then, This Is Now (1971)
Rumble Fish (1975)
Tex (1979)
Taming the Star Runner (1988)
Hawkes Harbor (2004)

Loved Rumble Fish as kid. Even more than the Outsiders

Hell yeah. I was born and raised in Bartlesville, OK; just north of Tulsa, and I've returned here in the past few years to be close to my aging parents.
SE Hinton was a big deal to us as kids. We were read these books regularly in elementary school. She's still revered around here and most people love the movies and books, and lots of folks have very cool stories about experiences they had related to her or her writing or the films that were shot in Tulsa. She's just a real person, a talented writer, and a very nice woman apparently, never heard a single bad word about her.
Embarrassingly, I have never personally read any of her books. (had 'em read to me, like I said, but never myself), I need to fix that. I've got copies of the movies The Outsiders and Rumblefish, I love Rumblefish to death...that movie is so awesome looking AND sounding.
You've lit a fire under my arse. I"m going to Ebay, gonna do what needs to be done.
