They had another article on Saints wire saying Davis extension likely. I believe that.

This is a worse option than cutting him.
This is signaling they are not confident Ram is coming back. Extending Mathieu also indicates this.
Restructuring Carr should have given us enough room to cut these older/expensive guys instead of extending them.
