Auggie sucks as a character and the actor playing her is worse.

2 eps left. I like it, but not anywhere close to loving it.

Just like so many shows on netflix, it feels like they clipped 2 or 3 episodes and go from point a to point f.

She’s the biggest problem by far. Just horrible casting, nothing about her felt like an authentic scientist

My second biggest critique is I wished they had spent more time on the science elements. They went pretty quick through a lot of the stuff that made the first book great… the nanofibers, the quantum mechanics, and the multiple dimensions were all critical, central elements to the underlying story of what amounted to a mystery novel. The series really flew through those things, to the point that it felt more like using a scientific backdrop to march straight towards an inevitable outcome. That’s more of the mindset of book 2, which is still great in its own right. But in book 1, it’s a long time before the inevitability of the conflict becomes clear… and the infusion of scientific concepts to build the mystery to get there is what makes the story so great.

It’s admittedly a high bar to get to in a tv series though. I might try the Amazon Chinese version to see how they cover the science side… those were my favorite components of the book

6/10 overall for me. Entertaining enough, and I’m glad they took the swing at something ambitious. But the bar was set too high for me by one of my favorite books, and this didn’t reach that admittedly high bar
