For this and Dune I read a primer online. It spoils most of the plot but a lot of these shows are about the journey rather than the destination and the producers have to balance the needs of the dedicated book fans with the general "I need something new to binge" crowd. That creates a mish-mash of sloppy character development and short cut science applications. Reading up online allows you to go into the show with a pre-existing understanding of the characters and concepts without having to delve into a series of dense sci-fi novels.
