Purchase a pre fabricated fire box setup from isokern brand or similar then brick around it as you see fit. There are several sizes available. Regular building materials aren’t going to hold up to the heat. And installing an isokern firebox ex extremely easy diy.

Thanks! I've been looking at Isokern and FireRock. The prefabricated ones are pricey! Might be the only way to go though. My first plan was to use normal bricks/cement blocks and then line the actual fire area with fire bricks.
I also will have a heatplate with a buck and a doe in the back of the back of the fire. I will post pics when I'm done!!!
