1) It is important to note that the census does not count CITIZENS necessarily, it counts PEOPLE. Therefore, even non-citizens can legally be counted in the census (including illegal immigrants).

2) Census figures are in turn then are used to determine the reapportionment of Congressional districts. In places that welcome illegals like California, new Congressional districts ultimately give California more blue seats in Congress.

3) In addition, the electoral college also uses a state's number of Congressional districts to determine their number of electoral college votes attributed per state. Therefore, places like California get more blue electoral college votes as well.

4) While some illegal immigrants are able to falsely secure the right to vote, it is mainly their children who are born here who automatically obtain the right to vote and then register as Democrats.
