Who cares what the soon to be dead/irrelevant ACC thinks? They’re about to be carved up like a Christmas Turkey and have at best four or five of their original teams left (the dregs like Wake and GT).

The Big Twelve is setting itself up nicely to be a basketball conference for if/when the SEC and Big Ten break away. The absolute best case scenario for them and the rest of the have not’s would be to allow their conference champ and the best champ of the rest to have a non-bye spot and much smaller slice of the pie, but we’re much more likely to see them excluded entirely and the lesser college football/sports ecosystem collapse as tv dollars dry up and schools refuse to supplement the sports out of their endowments.

Long story short: enjoy it while you can, folks. Large swaths of college sports are very likely to go the way of the dodo bird.

Breaking away sounds great until it isn't. Yes, more money but there is a lot of crap involved with managing minor sports. Plus, using wrestling as an example, I imagine the Cornell's, Pittsburgh's, Iowa State's, and other wrestling schools aren't going to schedule the Big 10. We are the best and baddest in wrestling but not too keen to wrestling our own with Missouri and Oklahoma with no or limited tournaments. Minor sports are littered with solid schools not in the Big 10 or SEC.
