I’ve thought the same thing. I can see how it makes sense vs. open-air but I struggle to see how the cost/benefit works compared to a normal dome.

Like.. yeah it’s cool to be able to have the roof open when the weather is nice. But does that put enough butts in the seats to make it worth the cost?

My guess is that the ROI isn’t really there other than meeting fan expectations for a nice “modern” stadium. Maybe those extra amenities make a difference when non-MLB events are looking at venues.

from every article I've read, this is one of the main factors.
apparently that is a big draw for events other than what main use of the stadium.

especially for NFL stadiums where you're talking about fewer than 15 days per year (counting pre and post season) for games.
