Hughes went on such an epic run in this era, over a 10 year stretch either writing or directing:

National Lampoon's Vacation series
Sixteen Candles
Breakfast Club
Weird Science
Pretty in Pink
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Great Outdoors
Uncle Buck
Home Alone 1&2

Regardless which you think is best, these are all iconic and well loved.

Loved them all
Pretty In Pink has always been my favorite!! Just something about it when I was younger I loved everything. The actors, the plot, the music. It remains my favorite all these years later

No Dutch?

And he gave us the greatest moment of the 1990s.

I also really enjoyed "She's Having a Baby" and the Kate Bush track was ABSOLUTE perfection in that scene

pretty intense scene...and great segue into the Roxy Music track.

ETA didn't realize Hughes sent the scene to Kate Bush first and asked her to come up with a song for it.

WHAT A LEGEND
