My barber just went up to $15, grudgingly.
When I was a kid, my mother would give my older brother $5 on Saturday morning and the three of us walked to town, each got a hair cut, went to both movie theaters and saw two double features, walked home stopping at the drug store to buy a cherry nectar and some baseball cards, and brought some change back to Mama.
You youngster have no ideal the 50s were.

this was a very long time ago. I'm 45 and a single cut at the small town barber was $5. went up to $7 before I graduated high school

I'm 71 and can relate. But then again, when I got my first legit paying job in the mid 60's I was getting paid $1.25 and hour, which was the legal minimum wage back then.
So, it's all relevant.
