I'm in the market to replace my 1st gen Tundra with a newER truck. As much as I'd love to go with a 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi, their track record with transmissions is pretty terrible. The 8 speed that came out in 2019 is looking good and the Aisin trans in the diesel is good as well. The old 6 speeds not so much.

I'm going with a 2017-ish Tundra again. Note for those suggesting the 2020 Tundra's, Toyota dropped the tranny cooler in 2018 so IMO 2017 is the last great year.

I dont think they've resolved the cam/lifter issues on those.

Mostly the transmission issues were in the diesels and most of those issues were once people added more power to them which they were not designed to handle.

They were designed for stock power levels.

The Aisin is a great transmission tho, have it in my current truck, the shift points aren't the best but there us tuning finally for them to smooth that out.

GM is having major issues right now with their 6.2 engine just locking up, something to do with valve tappets.
