The Thortons and Mob/dixie mob were heavily involved in smuggling etc through Harrison county and the pier was a huge cocaine importing spot. My girlfriends uncle as Sheriff of Harrison Country and he got caught on a runway with a drug plane. He committed suicide after to protect everyone. A lot of this was point cadet project area. They used shrimp and commercial fishing boats to smuggle and airplanes. (JJ Cale allegedly wrote the song on the back deck there. (I used to work there)

Blessy and Margaret hated each other. Their next door neighbor was an FBI agent and the feds really went after Gerald Blessy and when they found out he was innocent they were embarrassed they had spent millions and indicted on some bullshite. But for Boyce Holliman, he would have gone to jail.

Incredibly one the mayors that came after him was actually involved in getting the sherries killed, Pete Halet. I actually rented the house that the Halet Nix paralegal from Mississippi Mud, lived at the time. Sherry LaRue maybe?

The Sherrys kids actually hired a Pi that discovered why they were killed. Nix was running a scam in Angola to raise 500k or so to bribe Gov Edward’s to get him transferred to Mississippi so he could get out. Halets law firm was supposed to be holding the money but apparently Pete spent it and when it came up missing he blamed Sherry to save his own arse. The rest is history.

I don’t know why Frank Corso was killed but it was a big deal. Peter DAngelo was the big murder in my day. I think we was found with his dick in his mouth or something. My experience is that the real mob and Dixie mob worked together and weren’t really rivals. The Dixie mob handled most of the bs around Biloxi etc. The big time smuggling would be both involved unless it was US government. The local cops were all on payroll of Dixie Mob.

Interesting fact, Jackson County is actually under the jurisdiction of the Chicago mob not the New Orleans mob, because of Al Capone. Or it was back then. Conflicts could and did arise over that
