The secret to any uncooked sauce is to give it time in the fridge for the flavors to come together and mellow out. The recipe that I gave above is on point but if you mix it and immediately try to taste it, it will be extremely sharp and mildly unpleasant. Once it sits in the fridge overnight, the flavor mellows out and it is bright and crisp.
Also, if you serve it to guests, call it a white bbq sauce and compare it to ranch or a sour cream based sauce. A lot of people will immediately turn their nose up to it if you lead off with mayonnaise as the first ingredient to a bbq sauce.
