Will this be utilized to actually address crime or raise more revenue?

Speeding is a crime, regardless of what I or you might think. If reducing speeders leads to more money, used to hire more cops, so be it. I would rather pay a hundred dollar speeding ticket than spend a week on the county farm as punishment for my speeding crime.

In Jackson (my favorite example of a crime plagued rat hole) many criminals are caught when they are pulled over for speeding, weaving through traffic, or some other violation of traffic laws.

I speed, just like everyone else. I do it, knowing that excessive speed often leads to traffic accidents that injure or kill others. So does weaving through traffic, cutting folks off. running stop lights, turning without using a turn signal, texting while driving, drinking a cold one while or before driving, bla, bla bla.

Not like property crime or violent crime.

It's vehicular jaywalking and functionaly just a tax.

This isn't the point here, so whatever. Id like to see "us" write off cops as a COST, not something to self-fund, because that effectively becomes their mission instead of actually stopping the shitbirds

Speeding tickets are more than $100, more like $250-300. Also, just anecdotally, all my wrecks that I have been in whether me or other person's fault has always been not paying attention. Speeding hasn't ever caused a wreck for me. It was I didn't see the other person in blind spot, wasn't paying attention that there was actually a light, or was looking at something on side of road. A guy hit me and said his dog was barking and was looking at him. Or someone thought they could fit in a spot but couldn't. Never been speeding for me at least.
