That where the issue seems to be. Naturally crawfish start reaching maturity March-April, but crawfish/rice farmers will flood the fields in October/November to have an earlier artificial season. But with the drought and colder weather it was harder for the crawfish to become viable.

That and you can’t control the levels in the spillway and basin, you gotta trap when Mother Nature gives you the water , not like the fields where they can pump water

You do realize that this helps the natural life cycle of crawfish
Only about 5% of ponds are fished in Nov and it’s mostly continuous grass ponds way down south
Only about 15% are fished in Dec
