It helped that the Peggy Bundy character was partially a wig and very exaggerated, that a lot of what she did during and after MWC was voicework (Futurama) and that she had a pedigree in the business.
Her dad, Boris, was a director before he accidentally got himself killed walking into a helicopter.
Having a family background in other areas helps with connections if nothing else.
