Or possibly the Bucks '24 pick we have would have done it. Jonas was the salary piece as he is expiring, though I admit that might have hurt us the rest of the regular season. On the other hand, pretty sure Jonas gets forced off the floor in playoffs where Gafford might be able to stay on with his shot blocking. Could change math if Pels know they want to resign Jonas and have a handshake agreement on a number.

I liked Gafford (I liked him '19 when I hoped Pels would take him in the second. Didi, anybody?). He's on a good contract for two more years and I thought a change of scenery from the awful Wizs would energize his game.

That said there is some merit to the argument that maybe we are holding our picks because we are going to need cheap talent in the seasons ahead and drafting an approximation of Gafford in the late first round is very possible.

Only problem is we don’t have the pick. It’s a swap, so it’s worthless. And we don’t have it next year if it falls outside the top 4. Which is almost 100% likely.

We only have the ‘27 pick, which might be something if Giannis is off the team. So no way can we trade that. The Jrue trade looks very bad right now considering the other first went for Steven Adams.
