Something that I think is a bit different than Cruella and Maleficent is that Maleficent is a total rewriting of the story where the villain wins. Cruella is just a back story where she’s still evil at the end, but you get why.

Wicked doesn’t change what happened in the WoOz, but tells you what happened beforehand, paints the antagonist in a sympathetic light, and then lets the “real” events play out while having an alternate ending that doesn’t really change what we know of from the source material.

That may sound like gibberish. Anyways, I liked Wicked and I’m sure I’ll have to go see this with family around the holidays. I don’t trust Disney not to F it up.
