Also want to add that if any of you Louisiana folk are looking to make this trip flights are very reasonable currently. I was able to get 3 round trip tickets with decent times on AA for 517$ total. Delta came in around 650 total. Breeze airways will be dropping those dates soon nonstop and they will prob ring in around 125-180 per round trip . The AA flights layover in charlotte and delta in Atlanta. Just a heads up.

Given the requirements, Mt. Pleasant was the right choice. Easy access to downtown Charleston, right by Shem Creek which you definitely need to check out, and closer to the Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms beaches if you want to do a full or partial beach day.
ETA: Looks like the Cambria is pretty far out in Mt Pleasant. If you can get further west and closer to the Shem Creek. There's a cluster of hotels at the base of the Ravenel Bridge on the Mt P side that are worth a look.
