The reason that Nebraska like LSU is mainly the fans tailgating and partying during the college World Series and then there are many transplanted LSU fans such as myself in Nebraska.....

Don't forget that LSU upset Tennessee in the SEC championship game in 2001 sending Nebraska to the National Title game. Even though it didn't turn out well for them, they love us in a Pittsburgh over West Virginia way.
