They used “The Baserunner Method,” which is where you use the runner on base to relay signs from the video room to the batter.

The video rooms lets someone in the dugout know what kind of pitch is coming, that person signals it to the baserunner, who then signals it to the batter. It can only be used if you have a runner on base.

This is a form of electronic sign stealing, and this is what the Astros and Red Sox were guilty and punished for. The Yankees and Dodgers have not been investigated, but there are many sources who have come forward and admitted to their part of the cheating scandal in 2017-18 to baseball insiders like Evan Drellich, who wrote an entire book on electronic sign stealing called, “Winning Fixes Everything.”
