But what lost me on men's basketball was the Ben Simmons year.

Certainly didn't help that a guy who didn't even want to be in college (publicly said that BTW) sort of played when he wanted to. Offsetting that a bit was the Hornsby kid who everyone had to root for to do well.

I think college basketball changed forever after the absolutely amazing NCAA North Carolina ruling. Remember that one. North Carolina BB players apparently were given credit for going to a fictional class...didn't even exist. BUT the NCAA in all their wisdom said that NC should not be put on probation because OTHER students were able to sign up for that imaginary class...thus the BB players were given no special treatment.

That was ludicrous! Here is the proper ruling. ALL the "students" involved, players and non-players, get expelled!

That is the NCAA following its own rules. Athletes can take any class with any grading criteria so long as it is available to the general student body.

In one respect it certainly was. But the rules did not account for a class you could sign up for and get an A simply for signing up that was offered to all students.

The NCAA has no control over what the University does in these situations. And only the University can expel students, the NCAA can only rule on a student's eligibility. Under the rules at the time, that was perfectly legal. And why should any student get expelled for taking a class offered by the University? The students didn't create or offer the class, the University did. Maybe the real solution was to fire the people who orchestrated that whole situation.
