need to know how La. Senators Kennedy and Cassidy voted.
Of course they voted yes. Kennedy especially is 100% on board the Ukraine cause.
From an email responding to me about my concerns (in opposition):
“ Thank you for contacting me about Ukraine. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.
As you may know, Ukraine became an independent nation when the Ukrainian people overwhelmingly voted in favor of independence from the Soviet Union. Since then, and since the fall of the Soviet Union, President Vladimir Putin has sought to expand his territory and influence across Europe. In 2008, Russia invaded its neighbor Georgia. In 2014, Putin invaded and annexed Crimea, a region of Ukraine. Now, President Putin has decided to wage another ugly war against 44 million peaceful Ukrainians by invading their nation from multiple sides.
This invasion of Ukraine is a a mass-casualty event and represents the largest ground combat operation in Europe since World War II. After a month of intense fighting this war has already cost the lives of thousands and has led to millions of refugees fleeing battlefields by escaping to neighboring countries. Unfortunately, President Putin's forces continue to inflict heavy civilian casualties as a result of indiscriminate fire. Civilian hospitals, orphanages, neighborhoods and even a maternity ward have been hit by Russian fire. In no uncertain terms, President Putin is a thug. The people of Ukraine will not let their nation be stolen from them without a fight and the free world stands united behind the brave defenders. President Putin must be made a pariah, and Russia must be isolated financially from the rest of the world, including its energy sector. I do not support sending American troops, but I do support devastating sanctions and continued military and humanitarian aid.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues that are important to you and your family.”
And again “ Vladimir Putin’s malicious war in Ukraine has taken the lives of hundreds of thousands and has led to millions of refugees fleeing to neighboring countries. Israel is waging a brutal war of self-defense after being attacked by Hamas. And as Chinese military aggression grows in the Indo-Pacific, this supplemental request will protect democracies in the Indo-Pacific such as Taiwan. Additionally, the majority of the funds in the supplemental will be spent domestically on our own defense industrial base.”
