This is a political stunt that serves only to get Landry’s name in the papers while harming Louisianans.

2 big drawbacks for the guardsmen who will bear the brunt of this decision:

1. Because this is state activation, salaries are much lower (not to mention it comes directly from the LA State budget).

2. Because guardsmen are being activated by the Governor and not the POTUS in response to a federally-declared emergency, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) doesn’t apply.

This means these men and women will be deployed for potentially months to another state with less pay and no benefits to assist them with their lease, car notes, rent, medics bills, employer issues, etc.

Very selfish move by Landry.

You sure the State of Louisiana doesn't have a law that provides rights to their National Guard members when called to State Active Duty?

Most States do, especially those is high disaster areas...
