I think that the emphasis on the point guard is sometimes too much. If you have good team passing and unselfishness, then the role of the point guard is diminished. For instance, the great Celtic team of Larry Bird had Danny Ainge and Dennis Johnson at guard, neither of whom was actually a point guard. Bird had more assists than either of them.
Keep the ball moving with crisp passes and almost always someone will get open. HLV does better in the wings than she does at the point. So even if she dribbles the ball up, let her go to the wing and perhaps get a return pass and put up her shot if it is there.

Ainge was a shooting guard not a PG. DJ was a PG for Boston.
