Ppl that lead their teams to titles don’t have the”issues” Zion has had since becoming a pro. If I’m sticking to the on court stuff . He is not a leader . He has not improved his skill set . He cannot get or stay in shape. He does not give consistent effort. He doesn’t do the little things . I don’t care how talented someone is . If you don’t do those things you’ll never reach the peak . He is a very good player and will likely stay that until his body quits on him which seems like it will happen sooner than it should .
You could have said the same thing about Shaquille O'Neal. How did that workout for the Magic? It takes time.
In four seasons with the Magic, shaq averaged 74 games a season, 27.2 points, 12.5 rebs, and took the Magic to the finals.
We are in season five of Zion now. He’s played a total of 153 games, is averaging 24.9 and 6.6. He’s never played in a playoff game.
You can’t say any of the same things about Shaq that we are saying about Zion.
That said - trading Zion right now is dumb given his contract and potential.
