When Dems started indicting Trump, they made him superman for his emotional base. We saw it in these threads. Trump superfans actually believed that if you didn't jump on the Trump train, it was proof of all sorts of stupid shite. Example - if you didn't pledge your allegiance to Trump, you supported Dem lawfare. Like I said, emotions ruled the day.

DeSantis did exceedingly well running for governor in the 3rd largest state in '22. On an evening when a red wave was expected and never showed up, he was the one huge red bright spot. So he can run an effective campaign. He just wasn't nearly up to the task of competing with Trump for Republican votes in the '24 primary.
