If it was a planned trip that had already been booked, it would be something i'd expect the employee to bring up during the hiring process and get the okay.

If i'm the employee, i'd assume it wouldn't be paid if I don't have vacation days immediately on hire, unless I got a special approval from the company during said hiring process.

Do they have vacation days immediately on start date or does it take time to accrue any days?
