quote:

His point is that having anger against someone or a group of people is meaningless because we all die eventually and will be gone from this Earth forever.

200 years from now everyone on this site will be buried in the ground and no one will even remember us for who we were. All of the actions that people commit on this Earth mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. It’s a nihilistic mentality but unfortunately it’s the truth

I get what he's saying. That's all true, but as we live on this Earth, we control the trajectory of the human race. Every generation does their bit.

If you look at it from an individual human, yes what you said it true.

But if you look at it from the human race, no I don't think that should apply. I did things at work, wrote policies, created programs that will be used here when I retire. We are where we are because of those who lived before us. And we try to keep good things going for those who come after us.

We all contribute to the human race and that somewhat determines the trajectory of our species.

Does that all make sense?? Not trying to argue, just looking at it from different viewpoints.

Yes I was guilty of holding petty grudges. My son's death has helped me see the folly of my ways. I also held opinions of how many segments of society were beneath me. His death has helped me to remove those feelings.

However, Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss supporters are still dirtbags. Some things never go away. After all this is a LSU site.

Yeah I agree that our planet is a survival of the fittest world where people have to conquer in order to establish political beliefs, religions, laws, and ideologies. Nobody is questioning that.

But everyone has an instinctive fear of death instilled inside them, and we all have vices to help us cope with anxiety towards death. For example, my vice is Sex. I love women and I think physical intimacy helps relieve anxiety and helps homosapiens bond through times of trauma. Some people may use drugs, money or even religion to help them. If these things help us slowly accept death, and don’t harm our health, then that can help us get through life anxiety-free.
