How much of basketball home court advantage is real vs ref induced?

The foul discrepancy between home and visiting teams (esp in sec) has been real for years. I think ESPN even did a study on it.

Well its worth about 2-4 points depending on venue….according to vegas

Definitely get more favorable calls at home. But still an advantage of shooting on your own goals, not having to travel.

I agree but there’s no way away teams just coincidentally always foul significantly more. So why do refs go into a game ready to call more fouls on the visitor? Crowd induced? They scared of the fans?
I’m not talking about the lsu Bama game. Just something that has bothered me for years

I mean…home teams win more often. You foul more when you’re losing. There is some ref bias but I don’t think it’s as great as you’re making it out to be.
