Covid was understood in real time to be the political weapon it clearly was. Covid was also understood in nearly real time to not be the threat to life the Left/establishment promised it was. The argument that enough is known about Covid only in hindsight to make rational decisions is inaccurate.

As for Trump v. others that played along at least for a while - with Trump, he became more compliant over time. With others, it was the other way around. Also, only Trump is accountable for his administration, which the CDC is part of - and he should have made sure his own people were not making shite up, lying, hiding/hedging, etc.
