There was a little bit of a power struggle with the GM that probably fueled some reasonable discontent but yeah…ownership, front office, and players all started to tune him out, despite 3 of those 4 seasons seeing the NFCCG. Mutually agreeing to part ways after his success was wild

College was probably best fit given he was the boss and college kids would respond to his style better. I don’t think he’ll be a total failure in SD, but if his tenure in SF lasted for 2-3 more seasons I think we would have a very different perspective of him as an NFL coach
