Except no other dems wanted to run in the race. A closed primary would have made no difference. The repubs beat each other up, and then faced a democrat. Same thing would have happened with a closed primary.

What made up delusion is this? JBE got tons of free air time because of the jungle system. Once Vitter was the announced (R) candidate in a closed system, only then would people have bothered to even look at JBE

But its more likely that a black DIM would have come close to knocking JBE out, rather than just let him coast. It becomes a completely different election under a closed system

Look no further than the John Kasich endorsement of Hillary after the 2016 closed primaries. No one cared that his feelings were hurt. Trump still won
