UPDATE: He took it very well. He's really excited for me. Gave me some tips and wished me well.
He's giving me til Wednesday to get my desk in order and then having a 1.5 weeks off til my next role. He even said he wished the start date was sooner so I could have two checks doubled up together.
I told him I wouldn't have gotten this offer without everything he taught me and he said that's what he wants to hear as a boss.
