More specifically just the tribalism of “that guy disagrees with me sometimes, therefore he is part of a completely unified and evil entity”
It’s the number one tactic of both sides right now. Finding fringe/extreme examples that conflict so drastically with their own ideology that it makes it easy to double down on their own beliefs and hate their opposition.
But most people/things/truths are somewhere in between the fringes.
