Headed there for a week and I know nothing other than I’m going to try and catch a hockey game. Any recs on things to see and do are much appreciated!

You can hike up Mount Royal for great views.
The Museum of Archaeology & History is interesting. Makes connections to the establishment of Louisiana. Easy to stroll through Old Montreal, go to Notre Dame Cathedral.
I think my favorite thing was working my way through Marche Atwater and trying all of the different foods offered there.
Go to Schwartz’s Deli and sit at the deli counter.
Viator offers different walking tours that would probably be a good time in April. Check their site.

Make a reservation for Joe Beef now.
Montreal bagels > NYC bagels
You’ll be too early for the Mural festival, but you can do a tour and see the art.
Chinatown and the area just north is worth walking through. Old downtown is the clean version of the French Quarter.
You can tour Notre Dame Basilica and see a light show in the evening.
I loved Montreal. Enjoy!
