Had a John Deere dealer try and charge me 1.5 hours $210 to press out an old bearing in press in a new one in a hub. I told him Ive done them in 10 minutes and told them step by step how it's done. The service manager looked surprised and told me to pay them what I thought was fair. I ended up paying a half hour labor.

Took my Chevrolet truck over to the tire place on Essen Lane by I-10. Needed them to pull a tire off, crack the bead and replace the TPS Sensor. I had already bought the sensor off Amazon. Guy quotes me $100. I say "you do a tire repair for $23. That includes removing the tire from the wheel and putting it back on. Plus the repair. This is less work by half. Why four times the price?"

Guy says "Well we have to calibrate the TPS to the trucks computer..."

I say "Oh. You mean turn the power on and off twice and then start the car and put it in reverse?" I had already looked up the sequence to calibrate.

Guy sits there for a second and then says "Yeah. You got me on that one."

frick them.
