Stubbs is one of the few off the shelf sauces I like. Most are entirely too sweet for my tastes: Kraft, K.C. Masterpiece, Sweet Baby Rays (yes, I know…it has sweet in the name) are all too sweet for me. Stubbs I can live with.
I’ve been experimenting with tomato based sauce recipes at home, in an effort to find one that has the right flavor profile for me: spicy and flavorful but not very sweet. But, I haven’t struck gold yet. Until then, I will stick with mostly dry rubs with no sauce.
