There is no Phil Knight for UF. But there's a bunch of dudes out there that went through business school or the building construction program that, together, can be as impactful as Phil Knight. UF is pushing them away.
and this is why, from 2024 onwards Oregon is more of a destination school then Florida

Until the uaa is cleaned out and new boosters are brought in there is no NIL supply and no financial backing for important things like coaches and assistants that win

Look napier wanted tosh lupoi when he started at Florida and was getting close to closing when Dan Lanning got hired at Oregon and snatched him away last second

Lanning was a total unknown as a HC at the time and Napier while a question mark in his own right still had some tangible success at a very low level of division 1 college football

But how was Lanning able to do it? Oregon has more resources and is willing to spend more on assistants then Florida.

Lanning has the world on a platter for him at Oregon, and he’d never get that at florida, so why would he leave Oregon for florida?

The uaa wouldn’t even try for Lanning but even if they did Oregon would outbid the shite out of Florida and it wouldn’t even be close

I agree that UF is probably not considered a destination, as it once was. It can come back, but some radical change is needed. And I also don't think Lanning would ditch Oregon for UF - unless it was just a desire to get back to the south or the SEC.

We got spoiled with Spurrier - he made it look too easy because he was a genius. We got spoiled with Meyer because was a force of will. Now we have a broken administration that is hurting continuity within the fan base.

This is an inflection point for UF. In all of this, I see nothing from Sasse. Maybe he feels this is a time of chaos for CFB and the best course of action is to sit tight and wait for the storm to pass, see how the deck chairs are re-arranged and make a decision on how to proceed.
