You’re basically saying LSU has no shot moving forward because we have the same monies as they do in reference. I do think he doesn’t like the bullshite and quite frankly I don’t either.
I’m saying that the landscape is a lot harder now than it was 10 even 5 years ago. LSU is at a massive disadvantage. Not saying it can’t be done but NIL combined with the portal has put massive hill in the way.
Getting players to buy into the stuff that used to motivate is extraordinarily hard now. “ Team” is a nice concept but players are heavily motivated to ignore the team for Their own benefit financially. It’s too easy for them to do it. Saban saw this and knew it was time to get out.
Saban has been hinting at this for a few years . He did an interview a few years ago and mentioned a prominent business man in Tuscaloosa who was participating in NIL to help Saban get players. This is a guy that can call Saban directly.
Things were okay until players stopped showing up for engagements. He went to Saban and complained. Saban mentioned that the player was a good player and he had no issues with him. He was starting and contributing to the mission.
This is just one instance. There’s many others.
Saban went on to say NIL was putting even more pressure on the program to police these players.
He said they had to hire another team to deal with players who were not upholding their NIL deals and they’re really not suppose to be involved!
Even then he said, we have business helping with NIL and on top of the players not upholding their agreements, they can’t be certain that the player will stick around. They transfer and the business is left cold.
These are the frustrations he and all programs are dealing with. It’s a tremendous burden
