He was the king of recruiting advantage and he knew it is over. In a league with parity he is just a regular coach.

You must be very young.
When Saban came to LSU the LSU Admin was a group of Good Ole Boys, who just went along to get along.
When he saw the previous staff's recruiting list it was almost non existent. He asked his staff to give him a list of the top Louisiana HS athletes. One name missing from the original recruiting list was a kid, Corey Webster. Webster came to LSU as a WR. Saban switched him to DB, He was a star and played several seasons as CB for the New York Giants.
Good example of why Saban won National Championships and Dinardo lost his job.

He was play away from potentially getting one of his worst teams in the past 10 years back to the natty (which they would have won). Guy was an amazing coach. I'd hate to be the next coach. They'll be ready to run him off when he goes 9-3
