I think people are misunderstanding the timings. This is my understanding:

1. Newey is leaving the F1 program effective immediately, but will still attend races.
2. His sole job is to finish the hypercar.
3. He will leave Red Bull completely some time in the 1st quarter 2025.
4. No gardening leave.

So he'll be able to join another F1 team at the latest April 1, 2025. He'll have time to influence his new team's 2026 design.

Didn't see anything about the gardening leave anywhere either, I'm guessing it is almost starts right now while he is working on the hypercar for F1 purposes.

If he is available to join any team in Q2 2025, he will be able to definitely help build the car for the 2026 regs.

My RedBull fan boi coping mechanism is to tell myself the next set of reg changes will make cars engine dominant so Newey won't be as important. No further questions at this time.

eddie jordan thinks newey is more likely to retire than join another f1 team. AM supposedly is out, don't see him going to merc, and as i've said before, i don't see him moving to italy.
